Punishment - where to draw the line.

A special thanks to Jg Hertzler (Actor who played Martok in startrek) for his post on Facebook that makes the basis of this rant. The youtube video that Jg posted was originally filmed seven years ago but was not posted until a few days ago. A 16 year old girl knew she had made her father angry over illegal downloading (not sure what but it could have been as simple as MP3s). She planted the camera to catch it so she would have proof but decided not to post it yet. The footage shows her father barging into her room holding a leather strap or belt and starts screaming at her and then starts beating her with the strap. He is yelling as he is doing, with crap like "if you so much as look at me wrong", the mother who was in the room took the strap away at one point and hit her own daughter hoping to stop it, I know this is weird. After watching this I was left with rage. the creep will not face charges due to the five-year statutes of limitations expired. This is bullshit, the marks on a child will fade but the marks on her mind will never fade. The Wife has since left him and says she was brainwashed.
(The Father) Adams, who presides over child abuse cases, is still being investigated by the state's judicial conduct commission and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, which on Thursday requested that he be removed from its cases until the investigation concludes.
In his written statement Thursday,  Adams, said he would "respond" to all investigations. As Aransas County's top judge, he has dealt with at least 349 family law cases in the past year alone, nearly 50 of which involved state caseworkers seeking to determine whether parents were fit to raise their children.

County officials confirmed that Adams will not hear cases related to Child Protective Services for at least the next two weeks.
Meanwhile, the top administrator in Aransas County cast doubt on whether Adams could credibly return to the bench at all.

"I would think it would be very difficult," said Aransas County Judge C.H. "Burt" Mills Jr. "Personally I don't see how he can recover from this."

If the judicial commission and police investigations don't lead to punishment or charges, Adams could be safe on the bench until he's up for re-election in three years.

Now with all that is said and done, I cry BULLSHIT!!! there should not be a statutes of limitations on child abuse, PERIOD!! This guy is a judge and he gives out punishment to child abuse offenders, what kind of justice could he give out, knowing he has done this, I say each and every case he has proceeded over must be reopended, at least any one of the ones where the abuser gets off or gets off lightly. As for this guy, he needs punishment himself. Killing is too good to him, eye for an eye has it's merits when appropriate.

NO ONE SHOULD EVER, EVER HARM THEIR CHILDREN (or other people's children)

Now I do believe in punishment to correct behavior in children. A swat to the behind or 'spankings' serve a purpose, they teach the child: If you do bad things, bad things will happen to you. you be bad when your a child, you get a spanking, or groundings. if you keep up with bad things you go to jail when your older. This guy clearly does not know when to stop, does not know where to draw the line and when spankings or strapping dont work anymore. 16 year old is a not a little child anymore,

The backlash from the youtube video maybe enough but I am not holding my breath, they need to wave the statutes of limitations for this kind of offense and allow the courts (outside of Texas) to try him for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon to minor that is in his care. Then he needs to be put away for the rest of his natural life in General Population of a prison, If he does not end up dead, he will be someone's new girlfriend (wont happen, he wont go there!!!)

Teach your children well!!
Do not beat them into submission!!!
Tell them you love them!!!
Walk away when your angry!!
Find non violent ways to teach them, even if it extreme like Scared Straight if it is needed!!
Stop the circle of abuse!!!
Report abuse right away!!
Follow through on it!!
